As the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living continue to blur, exterior spaces are increasingly conceived as a natural extension of the interior. WOODlife makes it possible to carry the character, colour and aesthetics of an interior wooden floor into the outdoors with a complementary timber decking. By creating a visual connection between both surfaces, interior and exterior become part of one coherent architectural concept.
RIFT OAK DECKING
To continue our interior oak floors onto a decking, we have developed a (semi) rift sawn oak decking product. The straight grain of a (semi) rift sawn decking provides for a far better product stability than a plain sawn grain structure.
Our rift oak decking is available in a dimension of 25 x 95 mm.
It comes in a random mix of fixed lengths of: 1200/1600/2000/2400 mm. These fixed lengths will reduce the amount of saw waste to a minimum, when using a substructure holding support beams every 40 cm.
The decking comes with grooves to match Bfix installation clips.
RIFT DOUGLAS DECKING
In douglas we offer a similar (semi) rift sawn decking in a dimension of 25 x 145 mm, with grooves for an installation with B-fix clips. Our Douglas decking is available in a random mix of fixed lengths of 1600/2000/2400/2800 mm.
The Bfix clip system leaves a 5 mm gap between the individual boards. If these decking boards are combined with our 300 mm wide interior boards, the bevels of the interior flooring can smoothly match the spacing/gaps of the exterior decking.
Our douglas decking can be finished to match our finishes for interior Douglas floors using custom decking oils.
DEEP DOWN DECKING
As you may know, we offer a curated selection of interior flooring in warm browns, sophisticated greys and deep blacks: our DEEP Down Collection. All the floors from this collection are smoked throughout, creating a rich, dark brown base tone which always remains, even after repeated sanding.
In order to extend this same concept onto an exterior decking, we use thermo treated, European ash decking as a foundation to match the colours from our DEEP Down Collection. Due to the thermo treatment, the ash becomes very durable. As only heat & steam are used during the treatment to increase the durability and stability, thermo ash is a very good and environmentally conscious alternative for decking made of tropical wood species.
BESPOKE DECKING SOLUTIONS
Our oak, douglas and thermo ash decking are not suited for all climatical zones. Certain climates with major extremes or very high humidity levels, may require looking at other solutions.
We have very good experiences with species such as: ipé, Java teak, Kapur and thermo treated bamboo.
